Butterfly / SMiLE.dk

Introducing "Butterfly" by SMiLE.dk, a massive hit from 『Dance Dance Revolution』 (the arcade dancing game) and a global internet meme🦋 Released in 1998 by the Swedish female duo SMiLE.dk, this song is an incredibly happy, high-speed pop track with catchy, bleepy electronic sounds and the unforgettable "I, I, I" chant⚡️ The lyrics are cute, talking about "going to Japan to find a samurai (ideal lover)," but the opening "koto" sound strangely has a Chinese vibe, and the MV costumes aren't quite kimono-like, giving it a unique "mixed-up Asian feel" from a Western perspective🤣 Actually, this song has a history of being illegally built into "Chinese-made light-up toys" with loud audio and exported worldwide in the 2000s😂 Because of this, it's famous overseas as "that song from the noisy Chinese toy I had as a kid," and it's still incredibly popular online, described as having a "legal drug-level addiction" that gets stuck in your head after just one listen lol Even listening to it now in the Reiwa era, it's a super uplifting, somewhat exotic, and surreal legendary Heisei Eurodance track🪩 Definitely give it a listen when you need some background music for work or want to boost your energy, and experience its addictive quality yourself✨️
