I recommend the 12-team collection because it's easier to collect players overall without spending money. If you go for a pure team, it becomes a game of luck from the start just to collect players...

If you're free-to-play, I recommend the 12-team approach, but I'll just say that building a maxed-out team is easier with a single-team strategy.
