Sparkling! The Demon-Slaying Record of the Imperial Police, Author: Takatsugu Segawa
Hikaru, a noble, becomes the head of the Imperial Police, responsible for maintaining peace in Heiankyo. However, he's the type of boss who likes to get involved on the front lines, much to his subordinates' dismay. One day, after a lightning strike, Hikaru gains the ability to see the dead and supernatural beings. He thinks, 'If the deceased can tell me who the culprit is, solving cases should be easy, right?' and starts meddling in the capital's difficult cases. Teaming up with a genius girl who can also see the supernatural, whom he met by chance, he pursues evil in the capital of the Heian era. A Heian-era supernatural detective story full of laughter and human kindness, woven by an eccentric cast of characters! â Excerpt from the synopsis. This is the latest work by my favorite author, Takatsugu Segawa. He's known for his occult stories or mystery thrillers with an occult leaning, often mixed with comedy. When he writes serious horror, he uses the pen name Kotobi Segawa. Since this is under the Takatsugu Segawa name, it's a lighthearted horror story. In recent years, he's been publishing many works set in the Heian period.

So nostalgic. I used to love reading "Yami ni Utaeba" from Cobalt Bunko and the now-defunct Super Fantasy Bunko. I drifted away when I couldn't read Yami Bun anymore, but I'm happy to see it's still around. I'll look for it on d-book. ð

By the way, I've also bought all volumes digitally. I was overjoyed when I found out I could buy them (lol)
