The Father
Based on the stage play "Le Pere" (The Father), which has been performed in over 30 countries worldwide including Japan, this film depicts the loss due to aging and the wavering bond between parent and child from the perspective of a father whose memory and sense of time are becoming confused. ~Synopsis~ 81-year-old Anthony, living alone in London, is beginning to lose his memory due to dementia but refuses the caregiver arranged by his daughter, Anne. Around this time, Anne tells Anthony that she will be moving to Paris with her new lover. However, a strange man appears at Anthony's apartment, claiming to have been married to Anne for over 10 years and that this is his and Anne's home. Furthermore, Anthony should have another daughter, Lucy, but she is nowhere to be seen. As the boundary between reality and illusion blurs, Anthony arrives at a certain truth. (Quoted from Eiga.com) Anthony Hopkins' acting was so incredible... ð It's precisely because his performance is so realistic that it becomes even more heartbreaking at times ð I thought it was so well-made. It really makes you think, 'If you change your perspective, it looks like that,' 𥹠It's definitely worth watching, so if you have time or when you think of it, I'd be happy if you could give it a watch ð«¶
