Rugal (2020)

For those who enjoy action dramas, I'd like to recommend Rugal! It's a science action hero drama about a special organization called 'Rugal,' comprised of human weapons who gained special abilities through bio-engineering technology, fighting against 'Argos,' South Korea's largest terrorist group. Unlike typical action shows, it was fun to watch because it incorporated settings that utilize scientific technology, such as artificial eyes and special physical abilities. The battles that unfolded as the Rugal members, each with different powers, moved together were quite thrilling, and the conflict with Argos added to the tension.. Especially since elements like superpowers are added to the revenge and inter-organizational conflicts, I think it's a work worth watching at least once if you're looking for a unique action show. If you like dramas that blend action with Sci-Fi or superhero elements, how about Rugal?

The Veil

The MBC contest-winning drama "The Veil" is about the NIS (National Intelligence Service). It begins when NIS's top agent, played by Namkoong Min, goes missing after losing two colleagues in Shenyang, China. A year later, he's found on a smuggling ship with complete memory loss and returns to the NIS. Shortly after his return, he discovers a video message he left for himself in the past... "There's a rat inside. I erased my own memory to find that traitor." The story follows him as he teams up with fellow NIS agent Yoo Ji-eun (Kim Ji-eun) to uncover secrets and recover his lost memories. A must-watch drama recommended by genre lovers! haha Namkoong Min underwent significant physical training for this role. haha Namkoong Min, an actor you can always trust 🙂

[US Drama Rec] Modern Family

Hello everyone~! I was wondering if it's okay to recommend US dramas since everyone's been posting Korean ones, but I decided to go ahead and share. I usually prefer variety shows as something to watch while eating, and when I don't feel like watching YouTube or other variety shows, I turn to Modern Family! I first found out about it in middle school English class when they played it, so many of you might already know this famous US drama. Each episode is about 20 minutes long, making it easy to watch casually, and personally, the humor really clicks with me, so I enjoy it a lot. As the title suggests, it focuses on family, exploring various family structures, love, and its charm lies in being both realistic and idealistic. Haley's storyline about her struggles with studies, career path, and work was very relatable and hard to watch at times, but that's also why it remains a memorable drama for me.

Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016 ~ 2017)

This is the 2016-2017 romantic fantasy drama [Guardian: The Lonely and Great God], starring Gong Yoo, Kim Go-eun, Lee Dong-wook, and Yoo In-na, written by Kim Eun-sook. The drama primarily revolves around the events involving the goblin (Gong Yoo) who wishes to end his immortal life, the grim reaper (Lee Dong-wook) suffering from amnesia, and the goblin's bride (Kim Go-eun) who was destined to die. It was a sensational hit that broke the 20% viewership rating for the first time on cable TV at the time. The show continued to be talked about countless times even after its finale, and it is regarded as a well-made drama, praised for writer Kim Eun-sook's meticulous narrative, stunning visuals, and the superb acting of the lead cast.

The Silver Town (Netflix)

It's a horror(?) fantasy drama that unfolds when the main character, an elderly man, moves into a large retirement home built in the middle of the desert. There are monsters, but they weren't scary at all by my standards. The secret of eternal life, villainous forces exploiting the elderly... Things like that appear, but they were resolved so quickly that I was a bit disappointed. However, if a US drama becomes a hit, it tends to drag on endlessly, so a clean 1-season cut might be better. Rather than thriller-like excitement, it was fun watching the drama of American grandmas and grandpas having affairs even at their age lol And resolving conflicts and finding love, it was a heartwarming watch.

Another Oh Hae-young (2016)

This is the 2016 tvN romantic drama [Another Oh Hae-young], starring Seo Hyun-jin, Eric, and Jeon Hye-bin. The main plot revolves around the events that unfold as two women with the same name and a man who can see the future become entangled. The central axis is the precarious romance between a woman who was jilted at the altar and the man who caused the breakup. This masterpiece humorously and spiritedly depicts the sorrows and daily life of the ordinary Oh Hae-young (Seo Hyun-jin), who had to live in the shadow of the pretty Oh Hae-young (Jeon Hye-bin). It received high praise for its sensational direction, reminiscent of a music video, and its unique fantasy setting.

The Girl Who Can See Smells

I'm rewatching an old drama because there's nothing new to watch lately! It definitely feels old-school because it's an old drama, but I'm enjoying it haha

Recommend some binge-worthy dramas on Netflix?

I'm currently binge-watching 'Annyeong Francesca' on Coupang Play. My tolerance for cringe is being tested, but I'm pushing through to season 3. It's not really my cup of tea, though. I like: Crime Thriller Regression/Time-travel Any drama recommendations available on Netflix or Wavve?~~

Morning Dew (2023)

I'd like to recommend 'Morning Dew,' one of the dramas that left a strong impression on me. It tells the story of 'Da-eun,' a nurse who starts working in a psychiatric ward and encounters various patients. At first, the psychiatric ward might feel a bit heavy, but as you follow the patients' stories one by one, you realize it's not just about illness, but about the human heart and life. There were many scenes that touched my heart, showing people with different backgrounds overcoming difficult times and gradually improving. It also made me reflect on mental health, something I don't often think about. I particularly remember the message: 'Anyone can experience a moment when their heart aches, and for those people, morning eventually comes.' If you enjoy dramas that are calm, warm, and occasionally heart-wrenching, I recommend giving it a watch!

Occult Dramas That Are Popular Lately

The tvN drama "The Cursed" I heard the word "cursing" somewhere and got curious, so I started watching the drama lol In old Korean, like in the medieval period, the act of using sorcery to curse or bring disaster by invoking spirits was called "방법" (bangbeop), which means "cursing." Since it was written by director Yeon Sang-ho, I had higher expectations and watched it. Actress Jung Ji-so plays the main character, a young girl. With just a name, photo, and personal item, she can curse someone with her innate ability. The story is about her getting revenge on the 'source of evil,' played by actor Sung Dong-il, who killed her mother, a former shaman. The ending was a bit disappointing, but I recommend watching the extended version, the movie "The Cursed: Dead Man's Switch" lol
