Reading the Room
My nickname in school was the 'bear series'. Bear cub, chubby bear, Ursus, Baek Il-seop... all that sort of thing. I've lost a lot of weight since then, but I was a fatty back then. Even if I look like a bear, I have some sense. I don't really have the cunning of a fox, though. I don't know if it's a sixth sense, but I can read people pretty well. Just by their vibe and how they talk, I'd say I'm about 90% accurate. Even in communities, I can get a sense of someone from just one post or a single comment. I'm sure many of you are like this too. I started writing this thinking about a recently controversial couple. I saw them on a TV show, and a friend next to me said, 'Wow, the guy is handsome.' I replied that I'd thought his impression was bad from the start. That was back when he was still seen as having a positive influence. It's frustrating when the person next to you has no social awareness. If your spouse is like that, your own workload doubles lol. Sometimes, being too perceptive can also be uncomfortable. It's easiest to just pretend to be oblivious or pretend to be perceptive when needed. Does that itself require social awareness? ๐

Hmph, you're really quick-witted too, old man! =^._.^= I've had sharp instincts since the Arida Desert, nya. It's hardest to pretend not to know things, you're a real pro!

Living life, I've found that knowing when to pretend you don't know, and when to pretend you do, is a pretty important skill. I agree.

If a nickname is affectionate, that's a good thing.
It's easier to live life when things are moderate and well-rounded. Being sharp makes it hard to approach someone. Pretending to be something you're not would be tough for the person doing it, too. Round and round we go... suddenly makes me think of the song 'Champion'.

The word 'moderation' is the hardest, lol. I know it, I know it, but it seems to be different each time. It's because we're human, right? I learned another lesson about moderation today.

I think people only develop social awareness by experiencing things themselves, rather than being taught.

The fox that looks like a bear seems to live the most comfortably~

I don't have much social awareness either lol. Now that I'm older and have more social experience, I'm getting closer to understanding it.

You're working hard today, switching between Freedom and Board. It's great that you're always so diligent. I tend to keep a little distance from my social friends. It's about practicing the doctrine of the mean! This seems really difficult! Have a fun time in Freedom and see you in Board later!

Pay attention to the vibe. My senior in the military used to say this all the time. He'd nag me endlessly about how it would mess up my military life, to the point where it was almost pitiful. After going through all that, I've reached this age. It's still a time when I need to be mindful of others, but I've gained a little more leeway. If someone greets me, I greet them back. If they seem like they don't want to talk, I mostly just do my own thing. If they look like they need a break, I might subtly offer them a drink. It's like reading the room, but not really. If you think about it more broadly, isn't it a form of consideration? We're being considerate of others, so we're paying attention to their cues. I'm leaving this comment after paying attention to the vibe. And this is more about heart than just reading the room. Have a pleasant afternoon.^^

You have to be considerate and mindful of people's feelings, and sometimes it's tough to constantly read the room. When that happens, I often just pretend I don't know anything lol
