My Past

My mother passed away when I was 5, and my father had already moved to Seoul for work. Around the time my mother died, I was staying with my grandparents. I have a memory of going to Seoul with my father for a short while, and I almost died there once. My father was the one who caused it. After that, I continued to live with my grandparents, but my grandfather passed away from cancer. So, at 12 years old, I was taken to Seoul by my father and my stepmother. When I was growing up with my grandparents in the countryside, the rice bowls were huge, but when I came to Seoul, the rice bowls were like the ones you get at restaurants these days. I ate one bowl and wasn't full. When I asked for more, my stepmother said, 'Did a beggar get into your stomach?' After that, even if I wasn't full, I couldn't ask for more. I was at an age where I should be eating a lot, but I started eating 'look-based' meals (meals based on reading the room). Even when I came home from school hungry, I couldn't say anything. The difference between my biological mother and my stepmother was so vast. It was heartbreaking ㅠㅠㅠㅠ I have more to say, but I'll stop here...
