Subway Station Name Ghost Stories
1. Sindang Station They say it's where Gwanghwamun, which used to send bodies out of the capital during the Joseon Dynasty, was located ๐ซจ So, there were many shrines for the deceased, which is how it came to be called Sindang-dong! 2. Aeogae Station It's said to be a hill where the bodies of children who died early due to epidemics were buried, hence it was called 'Aigogae' (a sighing hill) which became Aeogae ๐ฑ๐ฑ 3. Muakjae Station There were many people who died in accidents due to tigers and were found as corpses, so it's said that during the Joseon Dynasty, it was a pass that barely 10 people could cross together! It changed from 'Moajae' (gather and cross) to Muakjae. Apparently, Muakjae Station actually has tiger tiles drawn on it.. ๐จ 4. Yeongdeungpo Station The first day of the second lunar month is called Myeongdongnal, and on Myeongdongnal, they hold shamanic rituals for fifteen days! It came to be called Yeongdeungpo, meaning a port where Yeongdeung rituals were held ๐ซจ Lately, I've suddenly gotten into horror, so I keep posting about scary things ๐

It reminds me of Dangogae Station, now called Bulamsan Station. I heard it was called Dangogae because there was some kind of seonangdang (shrine/altar) on the pass... and they say the name was changed to a mountain name because the meaning was eerie...

Even as a train enthusiast, I didn't know about that.... It would have been scarier if any of those stations had a ghost platform...
