Stories of Hololive's Japanese branch (JP gen) members: A Voice Between Virtual and Real For AZKi of Hololive JP, every time she steps on stage, it's a battle with herself. As a "virtual singer," her starting point was lonelier than most members. In the early days of her debut, her world consisted almost entirely of singing and the recording studio. While her fellow members were busy with game streams and chatting, AZKi spent most of her time quietly practicing her vocals, occasionally playing guitar during streams and filling the entire space with her songs. But one difficulty always plagued her—the nervousness of live performances. Even after countless stage appearances, her palms would still sweat before every concert, and it felt like butterflies were fluttering in her stomach. She once told her audience with a laugh, "I'm actually quite shy, but when I stand in front of the microphone, I feel like I can do anything." Backstage at a major concert, she found a small note secretly stuck to her work ID by a staff member. It read: "Your voice makes us believe that even the virtual world has real warmth." In that moment, she decided to transform all her fears into emotion within her songs. Today, AZKi still gets nervous, but she has learned to embrace that unease. Because she knows that on the other side of the screen, there are people waiting for her voice, waiting for her to tell them—even in a virtual world, sincere emotions are never fake.
