Horror Short Story | The Umbrella

It started pouring rain as Shen Jing was leaving work. He took shelter under the eaves and found a black umbrella leaning against the wall. The umbrella was old, its ribs a bit rusty, but still usable. He looked around, saw no one, and took it to go home. Upon arriving home, he hung the umbrella on the balcony, not thinking much of it. The next day when he went out, the rain had stopped. As he went downstairs, he found an extra umbrella in his hand—the black one from last night. He was sure he'd left it on the balcony, so when did he pick it up? He thought he must have misremembered and took the umbrella back upstairs to put it away properly. That evening when he returned home, the umbrella was hanging on the doorknob. He froze. He was certain this umbrella had been on the balcony. He picked it up to inspect it and found a line of text on the inside of the canopy, as if written with a white pen: "Take me out." Shen Jing felt a chill. He stuffed the umbrella into a trash bag and threw it into the large dumpster downstairs. The next morning when he went out, the umbrella was leaning against his front door, neatly folded, as if someone had found it and placed it there. He opened the umbrella and the text inside had changed: "You throw me away once, and I'll follow you for a day." Shen Jing didn't dare throw it away again and hid the umbrella in the deepest part of a cabinet. But from that day on, every time he went out, the umbrella would appear in his bag. He'd take it out and leave it at home, and the next time he went out, it would be back in his bag. One day, he was working late and left the office to find it raining. He hadn't brought an umbrella and was about to call a taxi when suddenly an umbrella appeared in his hand. It was black, with rusty ribs. He opened it and found more text inside: "Today, you take me home." Shen Jing opened the umbrella and walked into the rain. Midway, he realized the umbrella was dripping water, but his head remained dry.

Horror Short Story | Helmet

As Shen Jing rode his motorcycle home from work, he stopped at an intersection for a red light. A motorcycle pulled up beside him. The rider wore a full-face helmet with a black visor, obscuring their face. Shen Jing glanced over and thought the helmet looked very old, like a model from over a decade ago. When the light turned green, the other motorcycle pulled away first. Shen Jing followed, noticing the rider was going very slowly, always maintaining a position ahead of him. At the next intersection, the other motorcycle stopped. Shen Jing stopped too. The rider turned their head and looked at him through the black visor. Shen Jing felt a chill run down his spine. As soon as the light turned green, he accelerated and left. After riding for two blocks, he checked his rearview mirror and saw the helmet still behind him, at the same distance and same speed. He started to speed up, darting into narrow alleys and making several turns. In the rearview mirror, the helmet was gone. He let out a sigh of relief and slowed down. That's when he realized he had another helmet on his head. It was a full-face helmet with a black visor. He reached out to take it off, but the buckle was stuck and wouldn't budge no matter how hard he tried. On the inside of the visor, a line of text appeared, as if written with a fingertip on fog: "You've worn my hat, now you have to finish riding for me." Shen Jing froze, remembering the rider from earlier. He looked down at his motorcycle. It wasn't his. A faded photograph was stuck to the dashboard. In the photo, a young man wearing the same model of helmet was smiling at the camera. The date next to the photo read: fifteen years ago. He kept riding. He couldn't stop. The motorcycle moved forward on its own, passing through roads he had never traveled, finally stopping in front of a motorcycle shop. The metal gate was half open, and a light was on inside. An old man walked out.

Horror Short Story | The Washing Machine

When Chen Cheng moved into his new place, there was an old washing machine on the balcony. The landlord said the previous tenant left it, that it still worked, and he could throw it out if he didn't like it. He tried it once. The washing machine ran fine, but the spin cycle was unusually loud, like something was banging around inside. He didn't think much of it and kept using it. One day, while doing laundry, he opened the lid to take his clothes out and found an item of clothing that didn't belong to him. It was a little girl's pink dress, wet. He figured the previous tenant must have forgotten it and casually tossed it in the trash. The next day, doing laundry again, the dress reappeared. This time it was hanging on the washing machine lid, half-dry, as if someone had taken it out to air. Chen Cheng felt a chill. He stuffed the dress into a plastic bag and threw it in the large dumpsters downstairs. That night, he did laundry, and the spin cycle noise returned. It was especially loud this time, shaking the whole machine. He opened the lid— The dress was inside. But this time it wasn't wet; it was dry, neatly folded, placed on top of his most expensive shirt. He picked up the dress and found a note in its pocket: "Thank you for washing my clothes. But you threw me away three times, and I'm very sad." Chen Cheng put the dress back in the washing machine, closed the lid, and didn't dare touch it again. The next morning, he opened the washing machine. The dress was gone. Inside were only his clothes, all washed, spun, and folded, stacked neatly within the machine. He breathed a sigh of relief, thinking it was over. That evening, preparing to shower, he opened his closet to get his pajamas. Hanging inside the closet was the pink dress. It had gotten bigger, now fitting him perfectly. He froze. Slowly

Birthday Borrowed Fate Chapter 20: The Finale

Chapter Twenty: The Cycle of Fate Three years later, in the town of Qingshi, a hundred miles away, another wealthy family gave birth to a sickly baby boy. To save the child, the family invited a young Taoist priest dressed in black robes, with patterns carved on half of his face. The young Taoist priest held a black wooden staff, a chillingly familiar smirk on his lips. "My lord, your son's fate is insufficient. However, I have a method called 'Birthday Borrowed Fate.' As long as we find a healthy infant born on the same year, month, day, and hour..." On the official road outside Qingshi town, a young man wearing a bamboo hat and carrying a jet-black longsword on his back was walking slowly. The wind lifted his hat, revealing a determined yet deathly face beneath—it was A Mu. A Mu suddenly stopped, turned his head towards Qingshi town, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes. He touched the old wooden牌 on his chest, engraved with his birthdate, and muttered under his breath: "The evil art of borrowing fate has reappeared in the world... It seems my destiny is far from over." The young man drew his longsword, and his figure gradually disappeared into the rolling yellow sand. His hunt had only just begun... This story has concluded.

Birthday Borrowed Fate 19

Chapter Nineteen: The Lingering Curse A few days later, Blackwater Town returned to peace. The authorities sealed off the ruins of the Shen family mansion and declared it a forbidden area. The townspeople spoke of the Shen family in hushed tones, and no one dared to approach the foot of North Mountain anymore. However, things were not entirely over. On a rainy afternoon, a traveling physician passing by the Shen family ruins accidentally discovered a charred black wooden box deep within the collapsed dungeon, which had miraculously escaped the fire. The physician greedily opened the wooden box and found inside an old parchment covered in dried bloodstains, on which were clearly written four characters – "Birthday Borrowed Fate." The physician's breathing suddenly became rapid. He carefully tucked the parchment into his robes, a greedy and sinister smile appearing on his face. He didn't notice that beneath his feet, a black palm suddenly emerged from the soil, tightly gripping the hem of his shoe! The physician screamed in terror and fell to the ground, the parchment falling into the muddy water. The words on the parchment began to slowly ooze blood... To be continued

Japanese 2ch Ghost Story | The Wriggling Thing (KuneKune) 🌾 Part 2

After my brother started acting strange, I was about to pick up the binoculars that had fallen on the ground. Suddenly, my grandfather came running in, panicked. "You mustn't look at that white thing! Did you see it!? Did you look through the binoculars!?" When he realized I hadn't seen it yet, my grandfather actually started crying with relief right then and there. When we returned home, everyone was crying. But my brother was laughing by himself, his body constantly wriggling. Just like that white thing in the field. As we were getting ready to go home, my grandmother said it would be best for my brother to stay here. "In a few years, it might be better to just put him in the field..." As the car drove away, I saw my brother waving at us. I couldn't help but pick up the binoculars and look at him. My brother was smiling, but tears kept streaming down his face. Once the car turned the corner, I couldn't see my brother anymore. Still unable to put down the binoculars, I gazed at the lush green rice field, thinking about the days I used to play with my brother. Then—— Through the binoculars, I saw the white thing. —————— I accidentally saw a realistic image of a KuneKune while researching, and now that smiling face won't leave my mind 🤣

Japanese 2ch Creepypasta | The Wriggling Thing (Kunekune) 🌾 Part 1

※This story is retold from the first-person perspective based on the version that circulated on 2ch in 2003 in the 'Shara-kowa' (funny/scary stories) section. During the Obon festival when I was little, my brother and I visited our grandmother's house in Akita. That day, we were playing near a vast rice field. As it approached noon, the wind that had been blowing suddenly stopped. However, my brother kept staring into the distance. "What are you looking at?" Following his gaze, I saw a white object, about human-sized, wriggling incessantly in the far-off field. "It must be a scarecrow, right? Moving because of the wind." That's what we both thought at first. But then—— The wind had already stopped. Yet, the white thing was still wriggling. My brother, growing increasingly curious, ran home to get his binoculars. "Let me look first!" He excitedly peered at the object. Before long, his face turned pale, a cold sweat broke out all over his forehead, and finally, he dropped the binoculars. "Brother... what on earth is that?" In a voice that no longer sounded like his own, he answered word by word: "It's... better... if... you... don't... know..."

Japanese 2ch Creepypasta | Monkey Dream Train 🚂

※The following is retold from the original post in the first person. Occasionally, I realize I'm dreaming while I'm in a dream. That time, I was standing alone at a dimly lit, unmanned train station. Suddenly, a lifeless male announcer's voice came over the intercom: "The train is arriving. If you get on this train, something terrible will happen~" A small train, like one from an amusement park and driven by a monkey, pulled into the station. I figured, 'It's just a dream, I can just wake up if it gets too much,' so I took the third seat from the back. The train entered a tunnel. "Next stop~ Live fish, sliced raw~" The man in the very back seat immediately screamed. "Next stop~ Digging out~" This time it was the woman sitting right behind me. And then—— "Next stop~ Mince meat~ Mince meat~" It was my turn. I desperately told myself, 'Wake up, wake up!' and finally managed to escape the dream. Four years later, I dreamt of that train again. "Next stop~ Digging out~" Hearing this announcement, I immediately remembered the dream from four years ago. Everything happened just like it did back then. And then—— "Next stop~ Mince meat~ Mince meat~" I again desperately tried to wake myself up. I succeeded. But even though I was awake and definitely lying in my own room, I clearly heard that voice: "Running away again~? Next time I come, it'll be the last time~"

《Life Borrowing for Birthday》 18

Chapter Eighteen: Separated by Yin and Yang As the Shen family and the town mayor perished, the malevolent energy in Blackwater Town began to gradually dissipate. The blood moon in the sky vanished, replaced by a sliver of dawn before the break of day. Mu stood in the center of the ruins, the malevolent energy within his body gradually subsiding. Mu's consciousness regained control. He looked at his blood-stained hands and the devastated scene around him, his heart filled with sorrow and bewilderment. The vengeful spirits of his parents appeared before him, their expressions gentle and kind. "Child, your revenge is complete, and the Shen family's sins have been thoroughly cleansed. Your fate is too strong; you are destined not to live in the mortal world like ordinary people..." His mother's voice echoed softly in Mu's mind. Mu knelt on the ground and kowtowed three times towards the phantoms of his parents. "Father, Mother, Mu has no regrets!" The phantoms of his parents gradually turned into specks of starlight and disappeared into the dawn. Mu knew that although he had saved his life, due to experiencing the life-borrowing and possession by malevolent energy, his body was no longer that of a pure living person, but had become a "living corpse" wandering between the realms of Yin and Yang. To be continued in the next episode……

《Life Borrowing for Birthdays》17

Chapter Seventeen: The Death of the Town Chief The flames from the Shen family mansion illuminated half the sky of Blackwater Town. The town chief, along with dozens of officers carrying torches, rushed to the outside of the Shen residence. However, faced with the eerie blue flames and the piles of white bones scattered on the ground, no one dared to step through the main gate. The town chief was an incredibly greedy and corrupt official. For years, he had accepted bribes from the Shen family, helping them cover up countless crimes. He looked at the Shen mansion, now reduced to ruins, his heart filled with shock and anger: "Who did this? This is outright rebellion! Investigate! Turn Blackwater Town upside down if you have to, but find the culprit!" Just then, a tall, slender figure slowly walked out from the sea of flames. The officers were so terrified they stumbled backward, and the town chief himself fell to the ground in fear. A'mu stopped in front of the town chief. The dark aura in his eyes gradually receded, revealing clear but incredibly cold eyes. "Town Chief, eighteen years ago, the Shen family buried the villagers of Yunwu Village alive. You accepted three thousand taels of silver and ruled it as a fall from a cliff. Is this true?" The town chief's face turned ashen, and he quickly waved his hands. "N-no... it wasn't me... Old Master Shen forced me!" A'mu gave him no further chance to argue. With a casual flick of his wrist, a blood-stained token was embedded in the town chief's throat... To be continued...
