In Taiwan, many families face the same challenge: when elderly parents suddenly fall seriously ill, the entire family's routine, lifestyle, and eating habits must be instantly reshuffled. Facing long-term care, rehabilitation, and the establishment of medical systems, we often learn to be strong amidst chaos. Recalling that cold winter night in 2022, my mother collapsed without warning. At first, my father was at a loss. We called 119 and rushed her to a local hospital. After an initial examination, the ER doctor, with a grave expression, urged us: "Transfer her to a major hospital immediately! For cerebral infarction, you must seize the golden 8 hours!" We immediately transferred her to Guang Tian Hospital in Taichung Shalu. Fortunately, the vice president's medical skills were superb, and he immediately pulled my mother back from the brink. After nearly 3 months in and out of the ICU and general ward, we were finally able to bring my mother home once everything stabilized. At that moment, we also understood that a long and extremely patient rehabilitation journey had officially begun. Stroke was once just a medical term to us. But after accompanying my mother through the gates of hell and back, our surrounding family began to deeply appreciate the importance of "health preservation and a healthy lifestyle." We adjusted my mother's mind, body, and spirit, accompanying her with immense love, letting her know she wasn't alone, and helping her live stronger. After the stroke, my mother could only move with the help of a wheelchair and had to go to the hospital for rehabilitation every other day. We were also strict with her diet: low oil, low salt, balanced nutrition, and the food had to be cooked soft enough. More importantly, the living environment had to be absolutely safe.
