The Seventh Lunar Month: A Time for Filial Piety and Gratitude

Many people believe that offering sacrifices to ancestors is sufficient. However, true liberation involves helping past generations of ancestors resolve karmic debts and accumulate merit and virtue. Through Buddhist practices, they can be guided to rebirth in favorable realms or even attain Pure Land. When ancestors are still suffering, they often lack the power to bless their descendants. Only when ancestors are freed from suffering and attain joy can both the spiritual and human realms benefit, and descendants be truly blessed. The seventh lunar month is the most auspicious time of the year for filial piety, gratitude, and liberating ancestors. Lotus-Faced Guanyin will hold a 49-day Great Sutra Prayer and Universal Offering Ritual for Liberation. Over 3,000 lamas from sacred lands including Taiwan, India, Tibet, Nepal, and Bhutan will jointly perform rituals, completing the recitation of the five divisions of the 'Great Sutras,' and practicing merits such as smoke offerings and offerings to monks. A total of 5,962 sutras will be recited, allowing sentient beings in the Dharma realm and past generations of ancestors to choose their own liberation. May everyone seize this auspicious occasion in the seventh lunar month, using a pure mind to benefit past generations of ancestors, relatives, karmic creditors, and all sentient beings. Let us treat the seventh lunar month as a great month for self-benefit and benefiting others, liberating all beings, transcending ancestors, and cultivating wisdom and peace.
