Nothing Strange About This

My friend said an SUV can fit anything, but in the end, out of four people, there were only two seats left. Ever since my friend bought this car, he's been emphasizing its biggest advantage: space. He said the trunk is deep, the back seats fold down, and the roof is high, so you don't have to be picky about gear when going camping. He even patted the trunk and said, "Don't worry about it, this thing can fit a whole house." We all actually believed him. The day before we left, he reminded us in the group chat, "Don't be shy, bring whatever you want." When someone asked if we could share tables and chairs, he replied, "No need to save space, it's more comfortable for everyone to bring their own." On the day of the meetup, I only brought a duffel bag and a sleeping bag. When I arrived at the parking lot, his car was already surrounded by a pile of stuff. There was a tent, folding tables, four chairs, a cooler, cookware, two boxes of drinks, and a fan that looked bigger than the one in my living room. I asked him if the fan was a bit much. He seriously replied that he can't sleep without a fan at night, and this one even has a remote. I asked if the campsite had power outlets. He paused for a moment and then said, "I think so." Another friend was even more impressive. He brought a coffee machine, a grinder, a digital scale, a pour-over set, and three bags of beans from different origins. I asked him if it was necessary to bring so much for just one night. He said he needs a sense of ritual in the morning when he has his coffee. Looking at that coffee machine, I thought its ritual probably required buying a separate seat on the car. Finally, the last person showed up carrying a large bag of groceries. Inside, besides meat, vegetables, and fruit, there was even a whole watermelon.
