Carousel Mission

I thought since it's Saturday and a holiday, I could finish planting the white hibiscus and complete the mission. Right after I finished planting, I saw a new mission requiring 1500 yellow hibiscus. Looking at the petals I've collected so far, I only have a few. I ran out of petals after planting about 400 flowers. I figured I could plant other flowers while looking for giant flowers nearby to collect from. But when I opened my phone, all the giant flowers around me and in the city were red cannas. Even if they weren't red, they were other colors, and I couldn't see any others at all... It makes me wonder, have yellow hibiscus or other hibiscus gone extinct?
