Chapter 3: The Midnight Call At 2:14 AM, Wang Jing'an was jolted awake by a call from an unknown number. There was no response from the other end, only rapid, suppressed breathing, followed by heavy thuds, as if someone was repeatedly slamming their head against a wall. She immediately recalled the sound Gao Zhenxiang had described and urgently called his name. After a brief silence, the boy whispered hoarsely, "Teacher... there's really someone in the wall... he's out..." Before he could finish, the signal was swallowed by harsh static, and the call abruptly ended. When she tried to call back, the number was no longer in service. The next morning, Wang Jing'an contacted Gao Zhenxiang's mother, who stated that Zhenxiang had gone to sleep at 10 PM the previous night and hadn't used his phone at all. She wearily confessed that Zhenxiang had always said there was 'another dad' at home, and whenever his father became violent, that person would stand by the wall, smiling and watching, never saying a word. Although doctors believed it was just a hallucination caused by trauma, Mrs. Gao's tone was filled with helplessness and numbness. After ending the call, before Wang Jing'an could even process her thoughts, the front desk informed her that police officers had arrived. Two detectives brought a crime scene photo: a dilapidated bathroom splattered with blood, a shattered sink, and the words "He's back" scrawled crookedly in blood on the mirror. The police reported receiving a call at 3 AM about the bizarre disappearance of Gao Zhenxiang's father, with a large amount of blood found at the scene but no body. Wang Jing'an looked at the photo, the chilling whisper echoing in her mind – "There's really someone in the wall."
