The Person Behind the Wall 05 (Original Fiction, Suspense)

Chapter Five: The First Suspect A faint knock suddenly came from behind the bathroom wall. Wang Jing'an immediately turned his head, and everyone else stopped and listened carefully, but there was no further sound. Although the police officers thought it was just the pipes expanding and contracting with heat, Officer Zhou still ordered that the wall be preserved and not dismantled for the time being. After leaving the Gao family's residence, Wang Jing'an couldn't forget the wall that Gao Zhenxiang kept drawing, nor the faceless figure standing behind it. Just then, Officer Zhou received notification that Gao Zhenxiang had been found at school, his uniform sleeves stained with dried blood. When they arrived at the school, Gao Zhenxiang was sitting alone in the last row of an empty classroom, looking unusually calm. When questioned by the police, he only said he had gone home and slept, and knew nothing about his father's whereabouts. When Officer Zhou presented photos from the crime scene and pressed him about whether the blood belonged to his father and where the blood on his uniform came from, Gao Zhenxiang just looked down at his sleeves, his expression blank, and stammered, "I... I don't remember." As soon as he finished speaking, Gao Zhenxiang suddenly looked at the back door of the classroom in terror, his face turning ashen. He kept muttering, "Don't come... he's here... the person behind the wall." Wang Jing'an followed his gaze, but the doorway was empty. The next second, all the fluorescent lights in the classroom suddenly went out. The darkness lasted for a few seconds before the light returned. However, a blood-stained wooden mallet had inexplicably appeared on the desk in front of Gao Zhenxiang, with the faint inscription "Gao Family" carved into the handle. Officer Zhou immediately collected the mallet as evidence. From that moment on, Gao Zhenxiang was no longer just a victim in a missing person case; he officially became the first suspect targeted by the police.
