The People Inside the Walls 06 (Original Novel, Suspense)

Chapter Six: Mother's Secret In the interrogation room, Gao Zhenxiang, handcuffed, repeatedly said, "It wasn't me." Officer Zhou informed him that the bloody mallet bore his fingerprints, and after a three-second power outage, the mallet mysteriously appeared on his desk. Gao Zhenxiang looked bewildered, only insisting he remembered nothing. Wang Jing'an noticed that whenever he tried to recall, he'd subconsciously touch the old scar on the back of his head, remembering him saying, "Whenever I try to remember, I get a headache, and then I forget everything." In another interrogation room, Mrs. Gao finally confessed that Gao Zhenxiang had been long-term abused by his father, Gao Jianguo, since childhood, with medical records showing new injuries almost every year. On the night of the incident, Gao Jianguo beat his son again after drinking. She tried to intervene but was pushed down. Her memory afterward was a blur of red, unable to recall what exactly happened. Just then, the forensic report came out. The bloodstains in the bathroom yielded three sets of DNA: besides Gao Jianguo and Gao Zhenxiang, there was one unidentified individual. Simultaneously, police found deliberately wiped fingerprints on the bathroom doorframe, confirmed to belong to Mrs. Gao. Faced with questioning, she finally broke down in tears, admitting she had cleaned the scene, mistakenly believing Zhenxiang had accidentally killed his father and not wanting her son's life to be ruined. As everyone was shocked, Officer Zhou received a call. Gao Zhenxiang's elementary school teacher, missing for years, finally appeared, claiming to hold a truth hidden for a decade, and willing to tell only Wang Jing'an in person. Meanwhile, outside the police station, a black sedan quietly parked. A man wearing a baseball cap silently observed the station before starting the engine and disappearing into the night.
