Onimusha

Capcom's classic action series' first new mainline installment in 20 years, 'Onimusha Way of the Sword,' has officially had its release date brought forward to September 4, 2026 (originally September 25). The game is produced by Akito Kadowaki and directed by Ken Niihashi, and will be released on major platforms including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam / Epic). ⚔️ Core Game Highlights Protagonist and Setting: Set in early Edo period Kyoto, players will take on the role of the young Miyamoto Musashi. He dies after being attacked by 'Genma' during his quest for unparalleled swordsmanship, but upon revival, his right hand gains the 'Demon Gauntlet' and mysterious 'Oni Power,' embarking on a fated revenge journey against the Genma. Map Design: Features a 'wide-area linear' map structure. With the assistance of Kyoto City, the development team personally visited numerous temples and shrines in the area, incorporating real landscapes, history, and Japanese legends into the level design. Combat System: Retains classic systems like parry, deflect, Issen, and soul absorption, while integrating new actions and character progression mechanics. Free Trial Version: A free trial version is now available on major platforms, allowing players to face off against rival Sasaki Kojiro in Kiyomizu-dera as a preview. The official team specifically reminds players not to delete their save data from the trial version, as there will be exclusive save data linkage bonuses upon the official release.
