The People Inside the Walls - Extra Chapter 5: Teacher Zhang's Last Day

Ten years passed, but Teacher Zhang never let go of Gao Zhenwei's disappearance. Gao Zhenwei had no transfer records, and the Gao family never officially filed a report. It was as if someone had deliberately erased him from all records. On the day before her death, Teacher Zhang was organizing old files and saw the man with the black ring in a photograph again. She flipped it over, and it read: "He wasn't here to find Gao Zhenwei." She looked at the photo again and noticed another blurry figure in the corner. That person was simultaneously watching both Gao Zhenwei and the man with the ring. In the afternoon, Teacher Zhang messaged Wang Jing'an: "Don't be too quick to trust K." She then added: "K might not be a name." Finally, she left a warning: "If you don't hear from me again, go find Mrs. Gao." In the evening, Teacher Zhang found Gao Zhenwei's interview record from ten years ago. It stated: "The case subject indicated someone was monitoring him." She finally understood that Gao Zhenwei's fear might never have been just about his father. At night, she recorded her final message: "Gao Zhenwei is not dead. He didn't disappear on his own; someone made him leave." Before she could finish, there were three knocks on the door. Knock. Knock. Knock. Then, a child's voice rang out: "Teacher, don't open the door." Teacher Zhang didn't open the door but called Wang Jing'an. "If I'm not there tomorrow, go find Mrs. Gao. She knows why Gao Zhenwei had to leave." The next day, Teacher Zhang was found dead. The only thing missing from her office was that photograph. When the police played her last recording, only four knocks were heard, followed by a child's low voice.
