Schulz wanted Snoopy to remain 'silent'
Schulz initially established Snoopy as a silent character. It wasn't until two years after the comic's publication, in 1952, that Snoopy began expressing his thoughts to readers through thought balloons, imagining himself speaking, but he never actually spoke, aside from non-verbal sounds and the occasional 'woof'.

The evolutionary process you just shared truly illustrates the creator's deep consideration when shaping the character. This design of communicating with readers through thought bubbles actually gives the character a deeper charm. Do you also think this kind of silent expression touches people more than direct dialogue?
