Taiwan Wren-babbler
The Taiwan Wren-babbler (scientific name Pnoepyga formosana) is an endemic bird species in Taiwan and the only wren-babbler in Taiwan. It mainly inhabits mid-to-high altitude forests and forest understory environments. Its most distinctive feature is its very short tail, so short that it might appear tailless from a distance. It has a round body and is only about 8 cm long. The Taiwan Wren-babbler is often found foraging in the forest floor, near fallen logs or rocks. It moves agilely but is quite secretive, making it difficult to spot. It primarily feeds on insects and other small invertebrates. Although it's a small bird, it's an endemic forest bird of Taiwan. If you encounter one, don't mistake it for something else just because its tail is so short. Image source: https://share.google/zjUHIGzddBmpRV6H8
