TRA's New Station Guidance Signs Revealed: Intuitive Platform Identification with Blue for Northbound and Green for Southbound,

TRA's brand-new guidance system and new automatic gates will debut at the Tainan underground station! To enhance passenger recognition convenience, TRA has launched a new version of the 'Station Guidance Signage Manual,' with 'standardization, passenger-centricity, and enhanced direction identification' as its three core principles, comprehensively optimizing font, color, and panel design. The biggest highlight is the first-time introduction of color identification to distinguish travel direction: 'Blue' represents northbound (seaside side), and 'Green' represents southbound (mountain side), allowing passengers to intuitively determine platform direction through color. The Tainan underground station, scheduled for completion and opening in mid-October 2026, will be the first demonstration station in Taiwan, with other stations to be gradually updated annually through budget allocation. Additionally, TRA is promoting two major hardware upgrade projects: Train and Station Information Display System Update: Investing to update displays at 220 stations across the line, unifying the interface and using colors to differentiate train types, while integrating with a central platform for real-time abnormal information dispatch. The entire project is expected to be completed by April 2028. New Generation Multi-Payment Automatic Gates: TRA is investing NT$1 billion to replace automatic gates, supporting mobile QR Codes and electronic fare cards. Tainan Station will be the first to install them, with gradual expansion to major stations like Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung, Hualien, and northern stations starting from the first half of 2027. Installation across all 242 stations nationwide is expected to be completed by February 2028.
