Chiayi City God Temple Night Patrol

Exorcising Ghosts and Capturing Spirits: After the Ghost Gate opens on the 7th lunar month, the City God conducts a night patrol on the first day of the 8th lunar month to bring back "unreturned" spirits who have overstayed their leave to the underworld. Featured Traditional Performances: Includes props like the Book of Life and Death, the Mirror of Karma, and the Oil Pot Hell, along with prisoners parading in handcuffs and shackles to dissuade people from doing evil deeds. Wearing the 'Hang Jia' for Blessings: Believers wear paper 'Hang Jia' ( cangue ) to change their luck, avert disasters, and resolve misfortune. Centennial Gathering: This year, we invite the Zhennan Mother from Tainan's Great Heavenly Queen Palace and the Mazu from Changhua's Nanyao Palace to participate, recreating a grand divine gathering held once a century.
