Snail

In the misty forests of Taiwan's mid-elevation mountains, there lives a 'white elf' that is entirely white. During summer afternoons, mountain areas between 1500 and 2500 meters above sea level are often shrouded in clouds and fog, with abundant rainfall. On cool, humid nights in the mid-elevation southwestern mountains, the *Aegista lin(i)* snail extends its foot longer than usual and slowly yet agilely climbs up to the canopy of Machilus thunbergii trees, reaching up to 6 meters high, moving through the fog-filled forest. This snail, officially described in 2008, carries a conical shell and is pure white all over, truly resembling an elf living in the deep mountain mist. #Snail #Aegista_lini #Arboreal_snail #Cheng-Lun_Wu
