Thousand Sunny

The Thousand Sunny (often mistranslated or shortened to Sunny) is the second pirate ship of the Straw Hat Pirates in "One Piece." It's the current flagship used by protagonist Luffy and his crew, inheriting the will of their previous main ship, the Going Merry, and carrying the nakama towards the Grand Line and Laugh Tale. Core Settings and Naming • Name Meaning: Named by the mayor of Water 7, Iceburg, it means "To cross the cruel seas like the sun, calmly." The lion figurehead is also named for resembling the sun. • God-Tier Timber: Designed primarily by Franky, it uses the legendary toughest "Adam Wood," of which only a few trees exist worldwide, as its core building material, valued at 200 million Berries. • Guardian Spirit: The ship is also inhabited by a Ship Spirit (Klabautermann), silently protecting the Straw Hat crew.
