These hidden quests usually refer to the in-game synthesis stages. Try continuously merging blocks with higher values during matches, and you'll unlock them by completing the corresponding number of merges or reaching a certain level. It's more challenging than just playing for game time.

When you go back to the homepage, it'll show you what step number it is, and that's the step you're on.
