Great Unity & Pure Land & Heaven

The Great Way is practiced when the world is for all, the worthy and able are chosen, sincerity and harmony are cultivated. Thus, people do not only care for their own parents and children; the elderly will have a proper end, the able-bodied will be employed, the young will grow, the widowed, the orphaned, the childless, the disabled, and the sick will all be provided for. Men will have their duties, and women will have their homes. Wealth is disliked to be wasted on the ground, so it is not necessarily hidden for oneself; strength is disliked to not be exerted by oneself, so it is not necessarily done for oneself. Therefore, schemes are not hatched and do not arise, thieves and rebels do not appear, and thus doors are not closed even when facing outwards. This is called 'Great Unity'. Contemporary society is full of chaos, far from the state described above. However, do not be discouraged. I believe that from some perspective, good deeds and positive energy still exist. The late Master Sheng Yen founded Dharma Drum Mountain and tirelessly promoted Buddhism. His key idea was to establish a 'Pure Land on Earth,' similar to what is called 'Heaven' in the Western world. If we could achieve a state where 'thieves and rebels do not appear, and thus doors are not closed even when facing outwards,' wouldn't that also be the 'Pure Land on Earth' advocated by Master Sheng Yen? Why must we wait until after death to reach it?
