Man throws biological daughters from 6th floor balcony; Japanese police catch them with safety cushion

A horrific incident occurred early on the 26th in Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. A 25-year-old man, Tomokazu Miura, after an argument with his wife, allegedly threw his biological daughters, aged 4 and 1, from the 6th-floor balcony of their apartment and was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. According to Japanese media, around 11:30 PM the night before the incident, Miura's wife called the police reporting that her husband had grabbed her wrist and exhibited violent tendencies during their argument. Police responded to the scene, but Miura refused to cooperate, locking himself and his two young daughters inside the apartment, leading to a standoff of approximately 5 hours. To prevent any accidents, police had previously laid out a cushioning safety pad below the apartment and deployed a large number of officers to the scene. Around 4:20 AM on the 26th, just as police were preparing to forcibly enter the apartment, Miura suddenly threw his 4-year-old eldest daughter and 1-year-old second daughter from the 6th-floor balcony. Fortunately, the safety pad had been placed on the ground, and the two girls were caught by the police after their fall. They were conscious when taken to the hospital and are currently receiving treatment, with no immediate danger to their lives.
