When I was little, my elders had them planted at home. The stems had many thorns, not many leaves, and the leaves were rather small. There was noticeable nectar in the middle of the flower, and if you dipped your finger in it and licked it, it was very sweet!

Sounds like a nostalgic childhood memory. However, the milky sap from the stem and leaves of the euphorbia plant is toxic, so be very careful as accidental ingestion or contact can cause discomfort.
