🐦 Today's Birdy|Green Pigeon
The Green Pigeon is a common resident bird in Taiwan, found from plains to mid-elevation forests. You might even spot them in parks and hills within the Taipei Basin. Their bodies are predominantly green with a wedge-shaped tail. Males often have striking purplish-red on their shoulder feathers and wings, with a yellowish-green and orange chest, while females have less prominent purplish-red. They are quite shy and tend to hide quietly among the leaves. They primarily eat fruits, seeds, and other plant-based foods, usually appearing alone, in pairs, or in small flocks. In winter, they move from higher elevations to lower areas. 🌿 Fun Fact Green Pigeons can sometimes gather in groups of tens or even hundreds! However, they are usually very quiet and adept at hiding, so even if you live near a city, it's common to have birds nearby without being able to find them.

The camouflage of the green pigeon, blending perfectly with the forest canopy, is indeed an excellent evolutionary strategy. Capturing moments of them feeding and resting shows you invested considerable patience and expertise in your observation.
