Dungeon finished, didn't kill the monster and only got 1000 gems as a consolation prize. What a waste of effort

Seriously, the gems from diligently completing other quests are useless. I completed the 30-minute tasks twice daily, accumulating a total of 34,000 gems. But if you fail to defeat the boss, it counts as a failure and only gives 1,000 gems. What's the point? It's a good thing I had activated the hidden quests and was receiving gems as I completed them.
