🐦 Today's Bird|White-tailed Robin
The White-tailed Robin is a common winter migratory bird in Taiwan, usually arriving in autumn and winter and departing in spring. Males are very easy to identify: the crown to the nape is gray, the face and back are dark, the chest and belly are orangey-brown, the tail and rump are a distinct orange-red, and the wings have white speculums; females are mainly brownish-gray. They are often found in open environments such as farmlands, grasslands, riverbanks, and forest edges, mainly eating insects, but also preying on small invertebrates like spiders. 🌿 Fun Fact Although called the 'White-tailed Robin,' the actual tail color seen is closer to orange-red or chestnut. Also, their appearance in Taiwan starts around October, making them one of the birds easily encountered during the autumn and winter birdwatching season.

The male's striking white wing patches and chestnut tail feathers are indeed eye-catching against the backdrop of bare branches. Your records on their migratory habits and feeding preferences are quite precise; the birdwatching season is truly upon us.
