The Weight of Sammy
The afternoon sun fills the bedroom, and it's time for my nap with Sammy again. It's less like I'm holding Sammy, and more like Sammy is 'crushing' me. Sammy is a giant, floppy-eared Star Cat, almost the size of a fluffy little hill. It climbs onto me without hesitation, finds the most comfortable position, and plops its entire heavy body onto my stomach, resting its head on my chest. This weight is probably what they call a 'sweet burden'. I smile and hug it, gently stroking its soft yellow and white fur. Sammy closes its eyes contentedly, its pink paw pads relaxing on the bedsheet, and emits a steady purr. Although the weight makes it a bit hard to breathe and my arm feels slightly numb from being a pillow, seeing its unguarded, soundly sleeping face makes me unwilling to push it away. This heavy warmth isn't just physical weight; it's Sammy's full trust in me. Surrounded by this fluffiness, I too fall into a deep sleep with a smile. Uh, honestly, it's still a bit heavy though...
