New York: People diving into sewers late at night

Recently, there have been reports of people in New York opening manholes and diving into sewers late at night. Everyone was initially speculating about what they were doing. The answer turned out to be more down-to-earth than expected. Two men caught by the police said they were going down to find gold, jewelry, and valuables that had been washed into the drainage system. Authorities have long warned about the dangers of toxic gases, sudden flooding, and even death. But it seems people only heard: 'So, there might actually be gold?' It's like a live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in New York, but their mission changed from fighting bad guys to picking up gold.
