Melody in Memory

After his grandmother passed away, Xiao Wei inherited a budgerigar named 'Lan Lan'. It was his grandmother's most cherished pet during her lifetime. Xiao Wei was usually busy with work and often returned home late, so Lan Lan spent most of its time quietly in its cage, just watching Xiao Wei with its big, round eyes. One day, Xiao Wei, frustrated by a setback at work, returned home exhausted both mentally and physically. He sank into the sofa, gazing at the empty living room. Loneliness and stress washed over him instantly, and he couldn't help but start crying softly. Just then, Lan Lan in the cage suddenly flapped its wings and made a sound. Instead of its usual quirky chirps, it began to whistle, intermittently and in a somewhat hoarse yet extremely gentle tone, the intro to Jay Chou's 'Listen to Mom'. That was the song his grandmother loved most when Xiao Wei was learning guitar as a child. Back then, his grandmother would sit in her rattan chair, fanning herself and humming along to the melody, while Lan Lan listened quietly beside her. Xiao Wei never imagined that, after so many years, this little bird would still remember that tune. Xiao Wei walked over and gently placed Lan Lan on his shoulder. Lan Lan nuzzled its small head against Xiao Wei's cheek, as if comforting him on behalf of his grandmother.
