Artist: Vaundy Song Title: Kaijuu no Hanauta (怪獣の花唄) Lyrics/Composition: Vaundy Release Date: May 11, 2020 Album: strobo Lyrics Translation: https://www.marumaru-x.com/japanese-song/play-y8rj9dxzn9 The song title 'Kaijuu no Hanauta' contains a pun. 'Hanauta' (花唄), meaning 'flower song', sounds identical to 'hanauta' (鼻歌), meaning 'humming'. Thus, it also implies casually humming a tune, which is closely related to the song's lyrical theme. The line 'The monster song you always sing, it hasn't disappeared yet, I can't help but hum along' (君がいつも 歌う 怪獣の歌 まだ 消えない，口ずさんでしまうよ) Expresses the adult self who, after growing up and gradually forgetting childhood dreams and innocence, rediscovers pure courage and passion by recalling childhood memories and humming the melody of the 'monster song' that represents their innocent fantasy. It's by hearing the 'monster song' (recalling childhood innocence) that they start humming 'Kaijuu no Hanauta' (rediscovering their original intention). It vividly portrays an adult song that, after growing up and gradually forgetting childhood dreams and innocence, allows one to regain pure courage and passion through an accidental recollection of childhood. Vaundy himself has stated that this song is a tribute to his childhood and is very suitable for a graduation ceremony sing-along.
