Typhoon 'Haikui' is expected to form as early as today, strengthening to the upper limit of a medium typhoon. It will initially move northwest, then turn north east of the Ryukyu Islands next week. Today and tomorrow, the northeast monsoon will affect the region, increasing the chance of rain in the north and east. Starting Friday, temperatures will rise and it will become dry. CMA forecaster Wang Pin-hsiang stated that today, due to the northeast monsoon, there will be rainfall in Greater Taipei, Yilan, and Hualien, with scattered showers in the mountains of central and southern Taiwan in the afternoon. Tomorrow, the northeast monsoon will weaken, but moisture will remain high overall. Locally heavy showers are expected in northeastern Taiwan, Yilan, and the Keelung coastal area, with scattered showers in Greater Taipei, and brief localized showers in Hualien, Taitung, and Hengchun. From Friday to next Tuesday, moisture will be low, with only scattered brief showers in eastern Taiwan and Hengchun, and sporadic brief showers in the mountains of central and southern Taiwan in the afternoon.
