2026 Taiwan Political Figures Criminal Record Compendium
Every election season, official voter pamphlets are filled with candidates' extensive resumes and policy platforms, but often hide their underlying legal controversies. The 'Taiwan Forward Front,' a coalition of the New Power Party, the Taiwan Citizen Union, the Taiwan Statebuilding Party, and the Green Party Taiwan, has launched the '2026 Taiwan Political Figures Criminal Record Compendium' (https://council2026.taiwangogo.tw/) to create a transparent, citizen-led alternative voter pamphlet. The website compiles judicial rulings, government open data, and cited news reports to detail candidates' guilty verdicts and prosecution cases, also listing records of civil election nullification, drunk driving, and family succession. After investigating 1502 city council candidates across Taiwan, it was found that 135 individuals have public criminal records: 57 independents, 42 from the Kuomintang, 20 from the Democratic Progressive Party, and 1 from the Taiwan People's Party. Additionally, 10 individuals ran again after being disqualified for election nullification, and there were 31 cases of family succession. The platform offers an intuitive interactive map and filtering functions, allowing citizens to browse by county, city, and electoral district. The system can also automatically generate individual candidate cards for easy sharing with friends and family. The website strictly states that 'all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty,' objectively presenting only public records without offering voting recommendations for any candidate. It also provides a form for the public to report checks and corrections. I think this is quite useful. You can check if candidates have a criminal record. Those with voting rights can take a closer look to see if there are any trash candidates in their electoral district~
