Is a jacket a source of security?

I went out today and realized the light jacket I washed yesterday wasn't dry yet. I didn't want to go out without a jacket, and it felt weird and insecure, so I ended up wearing a thicker one. By the way, does anyone else have a habit of always wearing a jacket when they go out? Like, no matter how hot it is? I'm the type who always wears a jacket, no matter how hot it is. It's not really for sun protection, but more for a sense of security XD
