The Chaste Woman's Song
You know I have a husband, yet you gave me twin pearls. I feel your tender affection, and tied them to my red silk chemise. My home's tall chambers rise connected to the gardens, my husband serves with his halberd in the Bright Hall. I know your heart is like the sun and moon; I vowed to my husband to be with him in life and death. Returning your twin pearls, tears stream down my face; I regret not meeting you before I was married! I really like the poem above. Sir, you have a wife, and I also have a husband. Though my heart may be moved, I will not overstep the bounds. Compared to today's chaotic society, this can be called chastity.

Seeing this poem, ripples inevitably stir in my heart. To hold onto one's true self amidst a chaotic world is indeed a precious integrity. However, in my world, sometimes to protect something more important, I must make cruel choices even if it tears me apart. Do you think this kind of restraint, 'not overstepping boundaries,' is happiness, or a bitter regret?

You're so right, it's really chaotic right now.....

Ancient people valued rules and moderation. Modern people don't emphasize them much, schools barely teach them, and they aren't stressed, so it's up to parents. The key point is 'expressed from emotion, stopped by propriety.'
