Typhoon Roke: Tomorrow's School Closures (See Image)
According to the latest data from the Central Weather Administration, Typhoon Roke has slightly weakened in intensity over the past 3 hours. Its center is currently located east of Eluanbi and is moving northwest to north-northwest, posing a threat to Taiwan's landmass. The CWA stated that seas around Taiwan will experience strong winds and high waves of over 3 meters today and tomorrow (22nd and 23rd). Especially along the eastern coast (including Lanyu and Green Island), Keelung's northern coast, and the Hengchun Peninsula, waves of over 6 meters are expected. Long waves may occur along the coasts of Keelung (northern part), northern and central Taiwan, eastern Taiwan (including Lanyu and Green Island), Hengchun Peninsula, Penghu, and Matsu. Please avoid activities near the sea. Outdoor hanging objects, signs, fences, and scaffolding should be securely fastened, and potted plants on balconies should be placed safely. The CWA pointed out that due to the subsidence effect of the typhoon's circulation, there is a chance of Föhn wind occurring in the southeastern region on the 23rd and 24th. There is also a chance of Föhn wind occurring in the eastern region starting tomorrow night. Hualien County and Taitung County will be under a yellow alert on the 23rd and 24th, so please be cautious.
