Horror Short Story | The Door Gap

On the first day Shen Jing moved into his new place, he noticed a gap under the door, about a finger's width. He found it strange and looked down, but the gap was pitch black, with nothing inside. The landlord said the old door was cut short and it didn't affect its use, so he didn't pay it much mind. That night, as he was sleeping, he heard a noise outside the door. It sounded like someone dragging something down the hallway, a rustling sound, slowly passing his door. He didn't open the door. The next morning, when he went out, he found a strand of hair stuck under the door gap. It was black and very long, tangled in the gap and impossible to pull out. He cut it off with scissors and swept it away. The next day, there was another strand. He installed a security camera facing the door. That night, the hallway was empty on the footage, but a strand of hair slowly extended from under the door gap, as if someone was crouching outside and pushing their hair through the gap. He flung the door open and rushed out, but no one was in the hallway. He returned to his room and found the hair on the floor had disappeared. The door gap was still the same width, but there was a note underneath: "Your door gap is too wide. I watch you sleep through it every night." Shen Jing sealed the door gap with tape. That night, as he slept, he heard the sound of tape being ripped off, very slowly, as if someone on the other side was peeling it off piece by piece. He didn't dare to open his eyes. The next morning, he checked the door gap. The tape was gone, and there was another note underneath: "If you seal the door gap, I won't be able to see you. So tonight, I'm going to squeeze my whole body in." Shen Jing hired workers to replace the door that very day. The new door was installed, and the gap was so small that not even a piece of paper could fit through. He breathed a sigh of relief. That night, he went to sleep
