Some untold stories......
A MOBA competitive mobile game co-developed by Garena Taiwan. Its birth was essentially a strategic product to successfully push the phenomenal Chinese mobile game 'Honor of Kings' into the international market. 1. The opportunity in Southeast Asia and Taiwan: At the end of 2015, 'Honor of Kings' became a massive hit in China. Garena, the publisher with a huge 'League of Legends' player base in Taiwan and Southeast Asia at the time, keenly recognized the vast blue ocean market for 'mobile MOBAs' and thus began a deep collaboration with Tencent's TiMi Studio Group. 2. The 'sister title' revamp for de-sinicization: 'Honor of Kings' is filled with numerous Chinese historical and mythological figures (like Li Bai, Miyamoto Musashi, Xiang Yu). To enhance player immersion globally and in Taiwan, both parties decided to repackage the game, adjusting the art style and map visuals, and westernizing/fantasizing the heroes. This led to the creation of 'Arena of Valor'. 3. Official Launch: The game officially began testing and playing in Taiwan in October 2016. It later entered European, American, and Southeast Asian markets under the name 'Arena of Valor', becoming one of the world's most popular esports mobile games.
