I bought some kamaboko tempura and other items from a fish cake shop I stopped at during a drive, wanting to savor the taste of fish after a long time🐟️ Posting this might give away my location, but some things are better left unsaid…💐 The round, dumpling-like thing on top should have been squid tempura balls, I think🤔 But it felt more like a menchi-katsu with finely chopped squid inside, rather than my favorite satsuma-age (fried fish cake) with plenty of chopped squid. The pink thing below is a deep-fried pink kamaboko coated in tempura batter, a type of isobe-age. I honestly thought it was imitation crab stick when I first bought it💦 But it tasted like a luxurious treat from my outing because it's not a combination I usually make at home. Looking at this photo makes me crave my favorite squid tempura or the Tako Maru-kun from a certain kamaboko maker…! I haven't had them in ages, I wonder what they'd taste like now that I'm an adult. Why are octopus and squid so delicious? Not related to this post, but I like takoyaki too😁

Yakisoba! Easy and delicious sauce-flavored yakisoba! Using Maru-chan's yakisoba noodles, so the sauce flavor is unbeatable! I added tons of bean sprouts and cabbage to bulk it up, so it's super filling💯 It's different from street food, but I always remember this smell and want to eat it~😋 *Munch munch*...🍴🍳

Last night, I wanted to eat something chewy, so I asked Google if I could make something sweet with glutinous rice flour and regular flour. It suggested this recipe and tweaked the instructions for me! (I skimped on the frying oil compared to the recipe, so they turned out a bit thin...) I'm happy I can use up the large bag of flour I mistakenly bought, and I'm satisfied with making something sweet and delicious 😊 However, the donuts themselves weren't as chewy as I expected... 😓 Some famous ring donuts seem to use tapioca flour, so maybe that's what's needed to get that chewy texture in donuts? 🤔 I still have plenty left to share, so I guess I'll have them for breakfast tomorrow instead! 😆

There's a bakery in my neighborhood that also has a cafe space, and they offer morning and lunch menus on weekdays! This photo is of the toast sandwich from their cafe menu, which is available even on weekends (it's also my profile picture). I ate it once before, but this time the cream cheese seemed to have melted more, making it a bit messy to eat 💦 However, being a toast from a bakery, it had that perfect crispy, fluffy, and chewy texture that made it impossible to stop eating! As someone who prefers bread over rice, I want to go every week, but my wallet says otherwise... 😓 Since sets are standard, my husband, who came with me, was elegantly enjoying his iced coffee 🤭☕ I think I'll go again soon, and I hope to try a different menu item then~! They also have an original hamburger at a good price, so I'm already thinking that might be an option too 🍔 I'll post photos again when I go back :)

A set meal with grilled fish from the other day when I went to the government office for some business. It was a delicious and refreshing meal with one soup and three side dishes! The main fish was soaked in soy sauce? Mirin? flavors, making it perfect with rice! I wish I could make this at home... 😓 Seeing unsalted mackerel fillets made me want to try cooking it, boosting my motivation for meals🐟️ You could choose between brown rice and white rice, and I couldn't resist picking brown rice since it's something I only get when eating out😆 On the side was a cucumber pickle. I don't usually take them, but it was hot outside and I wanted some salt, so I grabbed some from the adjacent section where sauces were available. There were thinly sliced radishes? on top of the salad, and because they were sliced so thin, I could eat them without any bitterness. I wonder what kind of root vegetable it was? Inside the fried item on top was chicken! I was happy because I love chicken🐔 Since the menu changes daily, I don't expect to have the same simmered fish again, but I hope to taste that same flavor someday! However, the cafeteria also had items like "Turkish Rice" that are impossible to make at home, and I want to try that with my husband if we go again…!

It looks pretty tasty in the photos, but both were failures in my opinion…😓 As you can see, I failed with the eggs for the omurice! I was trying to make a 'dress omurice,' but maybe because the heat from the portable stove was uneven, only a part of it cooked and it fell apart… In the end, I just put it on top of the chicken rice 😣 (The chicken rice itself turned out okay). For the pot-au-feu, I think I added the consommé before waiting for it to simmer long enough, so the ingredients were still hard, and there wasn't enough consommé, making it watery and bland 🥲 I usually make pot-au-feu, so I got careless, which was a mistake. I regret it. Even after reheating it this morning, the ingredients weren't cooked through, so I had no choice but to microwave it ✌ I made 3 servings of chicken rice, so it's also my lunch today. Cutting the chicken into about 1cm pieces really made this part turn out pretty well 🥄 The sourness of the ketchup was a bit strong, but I tried the trick of cooking it off, yet I still didn't use enough ketchup for 3 servings of rice, which was another reason for failure… It's edible though, so it's fine! 🤗 Next time I make it, I'll be sure to do everything carefully〜!

This pork shabu-shabu udon made me happy, as I absolutely love cold shabu-shabu salad udon! 🐷 This is a daily log from a visit some time ago. The sesame sauce was quite strong with soy sauce/dashi flavor. I could taste the sesame, but it's inevitable that it wouldn't be exactly to my taste since it's from a restaurant.... As the product name suggests when you look it up, it's rich and flavorful, so I wished there were more vegetables to go with the strong richness 🥗 When I told my online friend the above, they suggested getting it for takeout and adding lettuce etc. at home. Genius! I don't usually get takeout, but if I have the chance, I'd like to do that~! It was a bowl that allowed me to enjoy a cool, healthy, and nutritious meal on a hot summer day 😋

The omelet's egg was fluffy, and the salad was also delicious and refreshing, maybe because of the original dressing~💕 The bread seemed homemade too, soft and warm. I was so full that I even let my husband have some of my omelet 😅🍴 For the cake set, I got apple juice and chiffon cake🍎🍰 Eating the chiffon cake, which made a 'juicy' sound just by inserting a fork, along with the fruit drizzled with chocolate sauce, made the chiffon cake's sweetness stand out even more. It was divine~!😊 It seems they also have an original parfait depending on the season, so I'd love to go again if I get the chance~🥭🍰
