Mystery of the Wood Trial??

I tried to break the 7 poison mists (3 turns) with the break shot from a homing bullet, but encountered a strange phenomenon where they wouldn't break and the poison mists disappeared. I can't clear it. Did the specs change? Can someone please tell me...
