Please prepare me for heartbreak

A rom-com mystery where various love stories in a small town connect like a Rube Goldberg machine. The foreshadowing from the interconnected short stories is masterfully done! Each story is comical, like pretending to be a wizard to reject confessions, or agonizing over an abnormal level of popularity, or a boy troubled by fighting couples. The characters are all so vivid, it's a work so funny you can't recommend reading it outside! And yet, it manages to be a solid mystery and a sweet rom-com, which is amazing. It's hilarious and I highly recommend it!
