I heard that when catching Pokémon, if you throw the ball when the capture circle shrinks before throwing the monster ball, it becomes easier to aim for an Excellent, but it's hard to even throw it to the center first. I guess I'm a casual player.

Learning circle throws makes it easier to aim for Excellent when catching Legendaries, so I recommend it. Of course, some people struggle with throwing, so play in a style that suits you best.
