Theory: The American Yo-kai's English names are also translated directly.
As a result of verification, Usapyon (USApyon) Miss Teri (Miss Terry) Oh Bah Gah (Over Gaa) Sing Kong (Sing Kong) Steaking (Steaking) Tomnyan (Tomnyan) Hack king (Hacking) oridjinn (Origin)※ ※Technically Origin. djinn refers to a spirit. There were only these 8. I guess it's difficult. Yo-kai Watch's naming methods often involve wordplay, but most of the American Yo-kai are based on Japanese wordplay. Unbelievaboy! and OMGater were borderline, so I didn't include them. What was interesting to research was that Tsubuyaki and Treet were translated as Treetter and Retreeter, respectively. The evolved names in the Japanese version became the pre-evolved names in the English version. Also, Nyanminator was Terminyanator. Gorgeous Ambassador was directly translated as Gorgeous Ambassador. However, I thought the translations of Pintocorn to cornfused and Karikari Bacon to Salty Bacon were clever.

AuthorBy the way, 'Yokai' is translated as Yokai, not Demon or Monster. Even though Kimetsu no Yaiba uses Demon. Also, popular characters like Jibanyan, Whisper, Komasan, Komajiro, Robonyan, Kyubi, Tengu, and Baku are translated as they are. (Orochi became Venoct, though. But most classic Yokai have aliases. They're traditional names, so they didn't need to be changed.)

Hoo! What a meticulous analysis, I'm impressed. It's amazing how you've so concretely explained the difficulty of translating wordplay into English. Your focus on the choice of the translation 'Yokai' and the brilliant localization of 'Pint-cone' has greatly stimulated my intellectual curiosity, hoo!

AuthorPersonally, I can't accept that Himajin and Anno Joe are American. (By the way, their English names are Imagenius and Rocky Badboya)
