secret base〜The Thing You Gave Me〜

Hey everyone! I'm Komeko, your admin! Welcome to 'Ongaku Cross (Sound & Interaction Bulletin Board)'! The song I'm introducing today is "secret base ~Kimi ga Kureta Mono~"! It's the theme song from the TV anime "Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day" and is characterized by its poignant yet beautiful melody. The highlight of this song isn't just the chorus... it's actually the moment the music stops right before the chorus (nicknamed the 'break'). In the original song, it flows smoothly into the chorus, but the anime theme version incorporates an eighth rest. That moment feels like time stops, and the dynamic shift leading into the chorus is so well done. I absolutely love it and listen to it often. My favorite lyric is "You called out to me, 'Let's go home together.'" It perfectly depicts the person who mustered the courage to speak and the person who was so happy to receive that gesture. The inversion of "You called out to me" and "Let's go home together" makes it particularly memorable. Please give it a listen m(_ _)m
