Yesterday, Joel posted a Luther Vandross song, so I'm posting one too. Honestly, I don't know many of his songs besides this one, and I don't particularly like them. I really liked this song, which made me wonder, 'Who is this artist?' That's how I found out he's a giant of R&B, and I tried listening to his other songs, but they weren't really to my taste. This song is universally loved, with very few people disliking it. It was even chosen as one of the favorite pop songs by Koreans in a past survey. The title 'I'd Rather' is a contraction of 'I would rather,' meaning 'I would prefer to do X,' and it's apparently used often in conversation. The lyrics say that rather than comfortably getting along with someone else, the singer would rather go through a hard time with you. The catch is that they only realize this after breaking up and trying to date someone else!! I was looking for something to link, and I found a video that seemed a bit too loosely translated. I'm linking it because I think it'll be easy for those less proficient in English to understand, and perhaps amusing for those who are more fluent.

Whitney Houston, the singer I loved the most. I liked Mariah Carey too, but Whitney was always number one. I can pick two of her best live performances. One is the video of her singing the US national anthem at the Super Bowl, which I posted last time. This song is from the '88 Olympics commemorative album. Watching this video, I feel a sense of arrogance, or perhaps haughtiness. But if you watch the movie 'Whitney', you can see how immense her pride in her own songs is. And rightly so. There's a very slight crackle at the end of the video, but it doesn't feel like a problem at all, and the climax gives me chills. Can you feel Whitney's incredible form at her peak?

It's based on a 2ch creepypasta about arriving at a station that shouldn't exist, Kisaragi Station. I couldn't find the work through searches, so it's like the song invited us rather than us finding it. They say it's also called the Kisaragi Station of YouTube. The song itself isn't incredibly beautiful, but the concept is interesting, so I find myself listening to it often. I'm a huge Overwatch fan, so I've been listening to it since it first dropped, and it's seriously addictive... The song itself is super upbeat, and especially when the chorus hits, I can't help but start grooving. (Is it because my shoulders just won't stop?) I still listen to it now and then when I think of it, but the problem is, it's hard to stay still once it's playing... I like this album cover too ㅎㅎ And I love the feature with Ash Island.
